I want to know your ghost

For Sanctuary, Laura will install an iteration of “I want to know your ghost” a portrait series she has been shooting since 2015. Each portrait is an intimate headshot of a seemingly expressionless subject. While shooting she waits for the subjects to drop any trace of their animated persona, exposing the fundamental essence of the person. She’s exploring who they are rather than who they want to be. The image is blown out and printed on porous chiffon creating a haunting, airy ephemerality. These images will be installed as a prayer flag, referencing the symbolism that prayer flag images become a permanent part of the universe even as their lack of solidity allows them to fade into their surroundings.
